Wow!
That’s all I can say.
I’m not going into this too much, but Crossfit needs to step up their event management game. Info was hard to get, there was no central point of contact, not even a information booth.
The Games deserve a top level event management team to truly make it a spectacular event.
It was still a pretty great event. Even with it’s shortcomings.
It was the athletes that made this event great, every last one of them. Sure there was big time prize money at stake, but that’s not why they were there.
They were there to compete against one another. Not beat one another, I mean compete. I like this distinction and hope it stays this way.
In the end it came down to who has better prepared for the games and more specifically the WODS of this years games.
It seemed as though there was a high degree of strength needed this year. Lots of hand stand push ups, muscle ups, and heavy bar bells.
All good as far as I’m concerned. Strength is something everyone needs more of.
So my take away is-
1. Proper form – the people who did well when it got heavy had good form.
2. Get more strength. – lift heavy. But don’t get over muscled. (not my problem)
3. Commit to a more organized training program. – set some goals, measure progress and identify weaknesses.
4. Spread the culture of Crossfit and all it’s benefits.
Congrats to all competitors! Hope to see you next year…
